Erik O. Thompson joined Ascend Advisory Group as a full Partner in 2010. As a Financial Advisor, Erik’s mission is to help his clients and their families reach their financial goals by providing comprehensive investment advice, portfolio management¹, and retirement income strategies that can help build and preserve his clients’ wealth. He takes pride in customizing individual investment plans for each client and delivering it with the highest level of personal service and professional integrity.

Erik serves a variety of clients including retirees, business owners, and working professionals. One of Erik’s specialties is retirement planning for employees of the local phone company, AT&T, where he currently serves over 150 active and retired employees.

Erik’s educational background includes earning his bachelor’s degree in finance from Miami University in 1997. As a Financial Advisor, Erik earned the Accredited Asset Management Specialist^SM designation (AAMS^®) and holds Series 7, 63 and 65 securities registrations, 9 and 10 supervisory registrations, Series 31, Managed Futures registration, as well as his life-insurance², health-insurance, annuities and variable contracts licenses.

Erik’s past experience as a Financial Advisor from 1999 to 2004 includes working for Edward Jones Investments and as a Private Banker for First Chicago NBD Bank. In 2004, Erik founded Thompson Investments and served as Senior Financial Advisor and Registered Principal. Thompson Investments was ranked by the Columbus Business First publication among the top 20 local independent investment firms for both 2007 and 2008 in terms of assets under management.

Away from the office Erik has taught, “Fundamentals of Investing”, as an Adjunct Professor at Columbus State Community College. He also volunteers for the Junior Achievement Program for Hoffman Trails Elementary School, where his wife, Stephanie, is a second grade teacher.  Erik and Stephanie had their first child in 2009, Sawyer Michael Thompson. He is a dedicated golfer and a member of Scioto Reserve Country Club, and has completed both the Columbus and Chicago Marathons.
